The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Digital Producer to join our Digital Engagement and Insight team in this full-time, ongoing APS Level 6 position.
As one of Sydney’s most visited museums, the Australian National Maritime Museum (the Museum) plays a vital role in informing and inspiring visitors to engage with the many narratives of this country.
We connect our visitors with the oceans and waterways as the heartbeat of who we are. From deep time to modern Australian and beyond, we explore our past, our present and future as an island nation shaped by sea, offering a sustainable and cohesive vision for the future.
The Museum welcomes over 2.5 million local, interstate and international visitors annually, and is supported by a thriving and passionate staff, membership, volunteer and education base. The Museum has a charitable foundation that receives donations.
This Digital Producer is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of digital projects, from planning and development to delivery for the Museum across digital platforms.
**High level overview of accountabilities**:
- Research and create content to engage the Museum across digital platforms.
- Ensure the content produced is as per acceptable standards, adhering to best practise for digital content delivery.
- Work collaboratively with all divisions and key stakeholders to ensure the Museum’s products, services, exhibitions, collections, events and commercial activities are being shared and promoted through innovative, inspiring and engaging content.
- Collaborate with content creators and designers to ensure that all necessary assets, such as images, videos, and written content, are created and integrated into a project.
- Oversee testing and deployment of digital projects, ensuring a smooth transition from development to the live environment.
- Provide guidance on tone of voice, content creation best practice and copywriting to key stakeholders within the business.
- Shoot and edit video content, record and edit audio content when required.
- Responsible for monitoring project performance through analytics tools and reporting key metrics to stakeholders to shape future content creation activities.
- Stay up-to-date on digital content trends and provide recommendations on potentially untapped digital content opportunities.
**Selection Criteria**:
**Essential**
- Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated experience of writing for website SEO as well as experience in editing supplied copy to the museum’s style and tone of voice.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to create project plans and use project management software, are essential.
- Excellent visual communication skills including the ability to select appropriate images for different media, edit the images, brief photographers and art direct photo shoots.
- Good working knowledge of current web content concepts and technologies.
- Good understanding and experience of web development and web content management systems.
- Demonstrable interpersonal skills and experience of working in a collaborative team environment.
- A demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines, paying due attention to detail and accuracy.
- Previous experience undertaking research projects.
**Desirable**
- Knowledge and/or appreciation of Maritime history.
- Photography/videography skills and experience with the Adobe Creative suite.
- Experience with UX design principles.
