We are seeking a Planning and Performance Lead to join the Corporate Planning and Performance team on an initial 6 month contract with a view to extension and/or permanency. With this position currently sitting vacant, this role represents a true opportunity to skip the recruitment process, jump the queue and sit yourself in pole position to snag the job on a permanent basis.
The Planning and Performance Lead will play an important role in supporting the effective and efficient delivery of our integrated planning and performance framework. This role develops and supports the implementation of the planning and performance reporting framework in accordance with the Local Government Act (and any other relevant legislation) and supports the City of Melbourne to meet its statutory planning and reporting requirements. The role will work collaboratively to identify and embed appropriate, consistent and integrated approach to planning and reporting processes.
With a background of corporate planning and performance reporting and sound skills in analysis, writing, stakeholder engagement and communications you will be able to utilise your experience to achieve the delivery of key planning, reporting and governance activities across the organisation. The role is part of a team that supports all integrated planning and performance activities and will be required to support whole of team objectives and plans as required.
Working autonomously, your day to day role will include:
- Leading the development and delivery of a disciplined integrated planning and performance reporting approach within the City of Melbourne
- Undertaking key corporate planning and reporting processes and practices such as the development of the Council Plan, Annual Report, operational planning, performance reporting, corporate governance, forward plan of key governance and decision making milestones and the Local Government Performance Reporting Framework.
- Utilising sound project and change management skills to lead projects to ensure they are well planned and executed within agreed time, budget and scope and delivered with the intended benefits.
- Development of frameworks that assist in the monitoring and evaluation of City of Melbourne’s work and provide an effective basis for decision making.
- Extracting, analysing, interpreting and producing analytical reports used to inform strategic decision making.
- Building effective relationships and facilitating cooperation through strong collaborations and partnerships, to achieve outcomes and effectively manage expectations.
The position requires the ability to work effectively in a highly complex and political environment and, as such, the position requires a high level of negotiation and influencing skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain productive working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
1. Tertiary qualifications in Business (or a related discipline)
2. Extensive experience and knowledge in integrated strategic planning and reporting or business analysis. Specialist knowledge of performance measurement would be very well thought of.
3. Skills and experience in business improvement and ability to collaborate with key partners to design, gain approval and implement change.
4. Ability to lead, coordinate and manage projects and resources effectively ro meet planned targets within agreed time frames.
