**About the opportunity**

Blacktown City is experiencing rapid growth and development, and Council has a commitment to achieving a balance between economic, social and environmental considerations, and to conserve local biodiversity.
- Term contract, full-time position up to June 2025
- Focus on creek, water sensitive urban design assets (WSUD) and riparian projects
- Assist in the implementation of Council's Biodiversity Strategy and Environmental Stormwater Management Program.

The position of Creeks Project Officer will ensure on-ground stormwater projects, such as sediment and rubbish removal in waterways, is undertaken effectively and efficiently.

This position will be responsible for:

- the management of creek line restoration and rehabilitation projects
- riparian restoration and Environmental Stormwater Management Program projects
- the supervision of on-ground environmental worksite activities and contractors
- the compilation, management and administration of contracts relating to environmental management
- the provision of expert advice and assistance to Council and the community in relation to bush land and wetland activities.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as Bush Regeneration, Conservation and Land Management, Horticultural Science, Natural Resource Management or Environmental Science
- Demonstrated experience supervising contractors and managing contracts
- Experience managing budgets and projects
- Ability to interpret regulation and policy.
- Current class C driver's licence.

**Desirable**:

- 12 months experience in a similar work environment
- Demonstrated experience working with wetland and WSUD maintenance projects
- Demonstrated experience in administering and reporting on environmental grants.

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,622.73 per week
- 35-hour working week
