The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. We’re focused on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. It’s all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.

**About the role**:

- The role involves working effectively with a range of internal stakeholders, working with the other units in Organisational Effectiveness and a range of program and policy areas within the department. The team provides service across the department and works particularly closely with Health Funding, Finance and Insights and eHealth (as well as all other divisions) to obtain data and to develop data insights.
- The role also involves assisting in identifying areas in the business for analysis, developing recommendations to stakeholders, and improving data collection systems to support the business and policy needs of the department.

**About us**:
At the Victorian Department of Health we want a future where Victorians are the healthiest people in the world. A Victoria where our children and people thrive, our workplaces are productive and safe, and our communities are more connected.

We see it as our job to support Victorians to stay healthy and safe. And to deliver a world-class healthcare system that ensures every single Victorian can access safe, quality care that leads to better health outcomes for all.

**How you'll make a difference**:

- Contribute to the development and implementation of business intelligence projects and practices within the People, Operations, Legal and Regulation division and more widely across the department.
- Contribute to timely, accurate and high-quality data products and reports and provide advice on the quality, accuracy and relevance of related data.
- Use a range of tools (including Power BI) to contribute to detailed reports/visualisation, tailored to audience need, on the overall performance of the department's enabling functions.
- Provide valuable advice on trends, risks and issues through detailed data analysis and investigation (where relevant by engaging with customers to gather data and data validation, and other data analytics functions), to support business need.
- Deliver tasks to specified time and quality expectations in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
- Contribute to advice on organisational performance, risks, trends and solutions and options for decision-making.
