**Your opportunity**

At NAWA, you will improve our client’s overall wellness by delivering the highest quality care to clients in line with their individual needs. We are looking for a genuinely caring person passionate about working with people struggling with mental and/or physical health to form a strong connection with our customers and support them in everyday activities within a warm therapeutic setting.

**Critical responsibilities**

Our services are tailored to every individuals need and responsibilities for Carer / Support Person may include, but are not limited to:

- A high level of personal care and attention to detail, where you will be building strong relationships with the customers and be a true companion to them through their wellness journey
- Understanding and providing appropriate care to clients with low needs to clients with high needs who demonstrate a range of challenging behaviours
- Attend to client needs of accessing medical services and supplies when necessary
- Support, accompany and organise activities, like going to the beach, going for a hike
- Transportation: drive clients to and from services / facilities such as General Practitioner clinics, airports.
- Domestic assistance, such as keeping premises tidy and organised and attending to regular maintenance and upkeep; make clients beds, assist with meals, medications, laundry and dry cleaning.
- Orientate, educate and mentor newly employed carers about organisational policies and procedures.
- Welcome and orientate clients to the facility, perform searches - remove contraband, establish safety, supervise medical assessment - with GP.
- Assist / organise reviews with other specialists, therapists and health professionals
- Provide ad hoc unstructured therapy
- Supervise, organise and help in regular maintenance and upkeep of facilities including engaging and supervising contractors.
- Communicate regularly with the executive team.
- Liaise with marketing staff, assist in producing marketing material
- Follow up of clients - make contact to check wellbeing / feedback - organise / book other follow up appointments for clients with health care professionals
- A genuine interest and respect for the unique personalities and challenges our customers are facing

- A positive mindset and friendly attitude
- A professional approach, having a high sense of confidentiality and adhering to safe work practices
- Recent experience as a carer preferably in the mental health and wellness sectors
- A Certificate IV in Community Services or similar is preferred
- Current driver’s licence, a clean driving record and a reliable vehicle
- Current CPR and First Aid training
- Completion of a food safety course or willingness to complete one
- Availability for shift work (varying hours, weekend work and night work)
- Valid work visa if not an Australian Citizen or permanent resident

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $40.26 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
