**About the role**
As the Advocacy Manager, you will be responsible for advocating all of GrainGrowers’ key priorities through industry research, policy analysis, reporting and representation, this includes trade & freight, tech & biosecurity, climate & carbon. You will also manage any policy issues directly related to rural affairs.

You will work closely with the policy team, CEO and Board Chair to influence outcomes and be at the forefront of conversations. Some travel to Canberra is likely with this role.

**About the person**
Grain Growers are looking for a highly engaging and influential Advocacy Manager. You may have worked within a Peak Body, Government or ministerial office. You will understand the political agenda related to agriculture and grain and be able to build strong networks with a variety of key stakeholders. You will be a great listener, and speaker and be able to drive successful outcomes.

**Duties include**:

- Lead the development and delivery of the advocacy plan and rural affairs policy initiatives
- Ensure effective and constructive engagement with stakeholders to deliver the advocacy and rural affairs policy initiatives
- Be at the forefront of issues and formal inquiries which may impact the grains sector and provide relevant advice and strategy recommendations
- Development of papers and delivery of public presentations which position GrainGrowers as a thought leader in policy and grain industry development
- build a strong network of political contacts with state and federal governments
- Work closely with the General Manager, Advocacy & Policy to develop and deliver a targeted advocacy strategy on GrainGrowers key priorities
- Work with the Policy and Advocacy Team on policy issues
- Research and analysis of policy issues relevant to key issues impacting the grains industry

**To be successful you will possess the following experience and qualifications**:

- Experience working in agriculture or the grains industry (desirable)
- Graduate/Postgraduate degree in agriculture, business, or public policy-related discipline
- Proven experience with industry analysis, advocacy, government relations, or policy administration experience
- Strong written communications skills, exceptional research, analysis, critical thinking and reporting skills
- Proven ability to operate in a role that requires both proactive strategic planning, along with reactive high-pressure work
- Ability to travel domestically as and when required
