The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Manager Strategy Governance and Coordination to provide a critical role within the Koori Justice Unit.

**About us**
The Koori Justice Unit (KJU) is a unit within the Aboriginal Justice Group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), which has been established to help realise a clear vision of a fair and accessible justice system for Aboriginal people.
The KJU is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement - Burra Lotjpa Dunguludja - currently in its fourth phase (AJA4), in partnership with the Aboriginal community and Victorian government, in line with realising Aboriginal self-determination.
**About the role**
Reporting to the Director Koori Justice Unit, the Manager of Strategy, Governance and Coordination is responsible for leading a small team to drive the implementation of actions under the Aboriginal Justice Agreement including the coordination of the KJU's applied policy responsibility and governance mechanisms aligning with the AJA.
As the Manager, you will also have a strong role in driving priorities to embed Aboriginal Justice considerations across departmental systems, policies and processes thorough strong internal engagement.
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide high level strategic advice to the Director and management team across the Koori Justice Unit to inform strategic planning and decision-making process
- Work across the KJU management team to provide policy advice and support to the AJF, Aboriginal Justice Caucus and the network of RAJACs to assist them with strategic direction and decision making to drive the AJA.
- Coordination of policy-related work for the AJA, in partnership with the Aboriginal Justice Policy Reform Unit and the Aboriginal community.
**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Excellent knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society and understanding of historical and contemporary issues relating to Aboriginal Victorians.
- Strong knowledge of, and demonstrated experience, working with Aboriginal communities and advisory groups, including sophisticated and culturally aware stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to identify, develop and implement new policies, programs and initiatives
- Experience in or knowledge of government legislation, Policy development and coordination.
