**Role Description - Disability Support Worker**

**Purpose of position**:The Disability Support Worker supports individuals to live a fulfilling and meaningful life in their own community. They work with people with a disability in achieving individual goals, dreams and aspirations and enhancing the individual’s participation in the community.

**Responsibilities**
- **Assistance with daily living**:

- Assistance and/or support with daily life, including personal care, domestic activities, support with medication, social and community participation and skill development activities
- Implement programs to support clients to grow their living skills and abilities so they are more able to make decisions affecting their lives and live as independently as possible
- Provide person-centred care, listening and responding to participants with activities and life outcomes they would like to achieve
- Handle complex or challenging situations or behaviours calmly and rationally.

**Reporting, documentation and administration**
- Ensure all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time
- Day-today process of collection, use, storage and dissemination of information
- Maintain documentation in accordance with relevant legislation requirements and company policies and procedures, including but not limited to, progress notes, medication records, behaviour charts, medical and personal profiles and reports pertaining to progress of people we support as well as organisational information required.

**Duty of care**
- Demonstrate a commitment to high quality service for people with disability
- Support the rights, interests and needs of people with disability.

**Other Duties**
- Maintain the participant’s privacy and confidentiality
- Follow reasonable directions given by the line manager.
- Assist participant to outings/shopping.

- You’re a passionate, empathetic and caring individual who is looking to make an invaluable positive impact on the lives of others
- You’re calm, collected and resilient in the face of adversity and are looking to carry these qualities with you to the front line to support people living with disability and their families
- You are an independent, proactive thinker and worker and able to follow direction/s given by your managers and can work within a tight-knit team
- You have good organisational and time management skills
- You have a good understanding of professional ethics.
- You need to be comfortable working with clients who have pets (dogs)
- **Qualifications and Training**
- Current Level 2 First Aid
- Current valid Australian driver’s licence and a registered, insured vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening check or other acceptable State or Territory check
- Working with children check or vulnerable people check, prior to commencement
- NDIS Orientation Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Manual Handling training (desired but not essential)
- Medication administration (desired but not essential)
- Minimum Certificate III in Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care, Home and Community Care, Individual Support or related fields (desired but not essential).

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $23.27 - $51.23 per hour
