Helensvale State High School, an Independent Public School, is located in the northern Gold Coast with a clear and compelling purpose for why we exist as expressed in our 'One Student, One Community, Many Futures' learning purpose. In addition to classrooms, Helensvale State High School's facilities also boast our SWeLL centre (student wellbeing and e-learning lounge), Student Activity Centre (SAC), gym, multi-purpose courts, ovals, performing arts centre, music rooms, computer laboratories, Cassidy's restaurant, home economics kitchens, dance studios, green room, horticulture greenhouse, science laboratories, robotics laboratory, industrial design workshops, paint spray booth, canteen and administration office.
About the role
To fulfil this particular Deputy Principal role, you will require a thorough knowledge of senior school curriculum and assessment. You will also be required to have a deep knowledge and understanding of effective pedagogical strategies to support student success across the whole school. The demonstrated ability to build capability of staff in these areas is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a large strategic leadership team. A broad range of experiences in leadership and management is preferable.
As the Deputy Principal you will have responsibility for the following:

- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
- Manage resources to achieve goals
