The Uniting Church in Australia (the Church) is a large uniquely Australian Christian denomination in Australia with heritage from historical reformed evangelical denominations. In Queensland, the Uniting Church has around 250 congregations and has early childhood & care services, schools, colleges and large community services (such as UnitingCare Queensland and Wesley Mission Queensland).

**Position**p**urpose**:
The purpose of this role is to oversee the Uniting Church in Queensland’s brand, communications, and external relations strategies and efforts.?This involves leading a team of Communication and Events specialists and developing and implementing brand, marketing and communication strategies, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the Church and its entities’ positive reputation and engagement.

The position provides strategic support to the Executive Director - Secretariat and delivers high quality strategic and operational leadership in the areas of brand, marketing, communications, digital channels, content, events and external relations advice, practice, systems and frameworks. The position leads the efficient and effective delivery of communications and events programs and initiatives amongst a wide range of internal and external stakeholder groups and audiences within Australia.

**Key**r**esponsibilities**:
- Oversee and manage the Brand, Communications and External Relations function within the Synod office to ensure that the strategies and operational activities meet both the current and future requirements for the Synod office and support identified in the FY25-28 Renewal & Growth Strategy of the Synod.- Design and deliver the brand voice and communications strategy for UCA Qld, ensuring all activities across marketing, advocacy, communication, events and fundraising align to the brand and support its development and growth.- Lead the culture and development of your team to high performance outcomes including day to day coaching, strategic and operational direction, clear task assignment, oversight of work plans, support and supervision, conduct performance appraisal/management and facilitate professional development of direct reports.- Provide high quality, reliable, well evidenced and solution orientated business partnering, advisory and support services.-
- Proactively contribute to operational planning and decision-making processes with high quality advice to ensure Brand, Marketing, Communications, Digital and External Relations policy and plans achieve strategic and operational outcomes and that operational risks are appropriately managed.- Provide oversight of Communications, Marketing, Events and External Relations budgets, ensuring compliance with expenditure criteria and identifying efficiencies and procurement cost savings across the Synod office.- Develop brand, communication and customer insights and effectiveness measures to support continuous improvement decisions and determine impact in the priority areas of the strategic plan. Provide timely reports and relevant advice and information in the areas of responsibility to the Committees and Leadership Teams.- Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day to day work including in interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents, clients and stakeholders.- Identify and develop strategies to provide internal and external client focused customer service including identifying improvements to policy, process and the work environment.- Work within the Code of Conduct and other policies and procedures of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod and the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant legislation including the COVID-19 Vaccination policy/procedure, reporting hazards/incidents, support for injured workers and full participation in return to work plans.- Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent.
