The Land Engineering Agency provides services in engineering, testing, design and development and technical data management. Services are provided across the whole of the Defence Capability Life Cycle

As a member of Land Engineering Agency, the Technical Officer will have a unique opportunity to be part of an engineering and technical team to deliver Australian Defence Force systems that are at the leading edge of Defence capability. Land military equipment and systems may consist of, but are not limited to: vehicle and armoured vehicle systems, soldier protection, weapons, biomedical, communications, simulation, power generation as well as chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear systems.

An APS 6 Technical Specialist:

- May be a team coach or lead a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit. They will exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.
- Will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

The right person for this role will be an experienced technical officer with a proven track record for performing and achieving complex technical work.
- Hold an AQF level 6 qualification (see Mandatory Qualifications).
- Have experience working as a technical officer with a proven track record of delivering technical outcomes, including investigating and exposing risks, analyse and report on technical issues, requirements, and develop and implement recommendations and advice.
- Have proven stakeholder management skills.
- Be capable of leading a team.
- Have sound written and oral communication skills.
- Have experience working within a Technical Regulatory Framework (or similar)
