**About Future Fund**
The Future Fund is Australia's Sovereign Wealth Fund. Today, we manage over $250 billion across six public asset funds. Our purpose is clear: we invest for the benefit of future generations of Australians.
High quality decision making is our commercial competitive advantage. Our organisation is home to ambitious, high-performing people who are driven to do meaningful work, grow professionally, support their peers and colleagues, and contribute to the future success of our organisation.
Our ‘One team, One purpose’ philosophy underpins our unique culture and the way we work together. This philosophy extends into all aspects of our organisation and guides how and why we do what we do.
**The Opportunity**
The Economics and Capital Markets (“ECM”) team sits within the Investment Group and has primary responsibility for assessment, analysis, and forecasting of the external investment environment. ECM has a key role in influencing portfolio positioning.
ECM has three pillars:
- Structural Thematics - the long-term drivers of economic and financial market outcomes;
- Macro - understanding cyclical fluctuations in the global and regional economies and policy responses; and
- Capital Markets - understanding what is priced into various asset markets and the implications for portfolio positioning.
Reporting to the Head of ECM, your role will help to inform portfolio positioning. This role will provide an outstanding opportunity to gain experience and develop a deep understanding of economics from both a short and long-term perspective, the range of asset classes that the Future Fund invests in and whole of portfolio management. The Future Fund has unparalleled access to some of the best thinkers in economics, policy making and financial markets in the world and the position is an exciting opportunity to build an outstanding foundation for a career in funds management.
**Key Responsibilities**
The role has a good blend of short-term tasks and longer-term research work including:
- The monitoring of day to day developments in economics and policy and their impact on financial markets;
- Contribute to the development of economic scenarios;
- Development of a range of economic models;
- Development of a range of asset pricing models;
- Liaise with Asset class teams on asset class assumptions; and
- Contribute to discussions on portfolio settings.
**About You**
We're looking for someone who has a sound understanding of economic fundamentals, is able to identify important trends and developments for financial markets and is able to translate that work into practical portfolio solutions.
Postgraduate qualifications and/or CFA designation (or studying towards) will be viewed favourably although not essential, as will studies in international relations and other disciplines.
**Life at Future Fund**
Our approach to building an inclusive culture is aimed at facilitating impactful, effective and objective decision making. We continue to deepen our understanding of the lived experience of underrepresented groups within our industry.
If this opportunity is a match for your personal values, professional experience, and career aspiration then we actively encourage you to apply. Your unique perspective and contribution will help us actualise our collective purpose - to invest for future generations of Australians.
We are better for our differences and support our people in bringing their authentic selves to work. It not only benefits our teams, it means you can focus on what matters most, being you.
