Maintenance Officer/handyperson

**About You**

This is no ordinary job, we are seeking that special someone with a bright and uplifting personality that can relate and communicate well with older people. You will be someone that rolls up their sleeves and takes pride in their work. The role is based at our proudly renowned home Gregory Lodge in Flemington, additional days available at Footscray.

**Our Relationship Model of Care are focused on each individual resident’s needs and choices, via our staff becoming an extended part of the resident’s family, by building strong professional and meaningful relationships, with the aim of ensuring every resident has their best day possible.**

Along with your trade background you will be an experienced all-round handy-person with solid skills in fixing and mending jobs such as replacing door handles, knobs, patching plaster, painting, hanging items on walls and keeping gardens maintained. You will need to coordinate the day to day implementation of maintenance works including liaising with external tradesmen and contractors. Some residents will be interested in the work that you do, so your ability to take the time to have a chat is really important.

A trade qualification or background is preferred but not essential, however all round handy-person skills are required.

**Key Requirements**
- Ability to communicate and relate to older people (particularly those living with an illness or disability)
- A warm and bright personality with a positive attitude
- Previous hands-on experience in repairs and maintenance
- Proven ability to manage and complete jobs in a set period with limited supervision
- Be competent in the use of basic hand and power tools
- Have basic safety knowledge related to the transportation of tools, materials, and work pieces in and around work areas
- Have a clear understanding of safe Work Health & Safety practices
- Provide fast and efficient service for maintenance requests
- Experience working within a Residential Aged Care environment is highly advantageous but not essential
