**Description**:
Do you love turning data into meaningful information? As Data Analyst at USS you'll play a critical role pulling together data from multiple sources. You'll review and interpret it using data analysis tools, presenting meaningful information and insights to help our business make better-informed decisions. This role drives better decision making in our business and gives us competitive advantage in the marketplace.

**What you will be responsible for**
- Collect data from a variety of sources
- Create mechanisms for exploring structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
- Handle confidential information responsibly
- Manage metadata
- Commission and decommission datasets
- Quality Assurance
- Support data integrity initiative
- Identify patterns in data through troubleshooting and investigation
- Ability to write comprehensive reports
- Generate insights from the available information
- Examine trends for clues to boost performance
- Create reports to share insights with company leaders

**The kind of background and experience that will help you to be successful**
- Prior experience where you have analysed data and built dashboards using SQL with experience in transactional and billing data
- Innovation minded with high problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
- Strong communication capabilities
- Data visualization and storytelling tools to effectively communicate a story through data
- Data mining
- Database management
- Report generation
- Business process development
- Intermediate in other query language (e.g., SAS or Python)
- Skills in Microsoft Product with Advanced Excel or Google Sheets
- Adept at data crunching, and passionate about unearthing significant patterns and meaningful insights
- Proactive self-starter, always on learner, team player and able to work in a virtual environment
- An eye for accuracy, the ability to self-manage multiple data sets and data requests, and flexibility to respond quickly

**Qualifications that will be useful in this job**
- Certified Analytics Professional
- MapR Certified Data Analyst
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, economics or mathematics
