**About the Role:
The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) is on a journey to transform how data is managed and used to deliver value to Queensland's economy, environment, and community. As a Data Governance Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting this transformation by contributing to DETSI's Data Strategy.
This role offers the opportunity to work at the foundation of DETSI's data governance function. You'll assist in developing and implementing policies, frameworks, and standards that ensure data is managed ethically, securely, and in compliance with Queensland Government requirements. By fostering collaboration and promoting best practices, you'll help DETSI create a unified, accessible, and well-managed approach to data that supports informed decision-making and operational excellence.
What You'll Do:
As a Data Governance Officer, you'll be part of a team that's building DETSI's data governance capability from the ground up. Your work will focus on supporting practical solutions that enable the department to manage its data more effectively.
You'll collaborate with teams across the organisation to ensure data governance practices are embedded into everyday operations. This includes promoting the principles of unification, accessibility, and protection of data, while also ensuring compliance with Queensland.
Your role will also involve identifying opportunities to improve how data is managed and shared, helping DETSI unlock its potential to deliver actionable insights.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who is passionate about data and understands its value as a strategic asset. You'll need experience in supporting the development and implementation of data governance policies and frameworks, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset will be essential, as you'll be helping DETSI navigate the challenges and opportunities of data governance.
An understanding of data ethics, compliance, and quality management will also be highly regarded, as will experience in supporting capability-building initiatives.
