**The Role**
The Staff Officer Awards position is part of the Army Ceremonial and Honours and Awards team. The Staff Officer Awards is responsible for supporting the administration and recognition of Army personnel through the Defence Honours and Awards system, Commendations, Soldier Medallions and Australia Day Medallions.

Duties associated with the role will include:

- Management of routine correspondence with stakeholders relating to Honours and Awards, Commendations and other achievements.
- Providing policy advice to Army stakeholders on policy and processes relating to the Army Honours and Awards process.
- Manage the administration of awards, including but not limited to medallic nominations, commendations and recognition of exemplary service, reviewing the standard of nominations and preparing nominations for assessment by the appropriate honours and awards board.
- Oversee the data entry of awards and commendations into the Defence Human Resources Information System.

The Army Honours & Awards and Ceremonial & Protocol Cell manages and coordinates Honours and Awards, Commendations and Medallions for Army.

Maintains the Customs and Traditions of Army by developing and maintaining policy pertaining to Ceremonial and Protocol matters.

- The ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision and work as part of a small, multi-disciplined team.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work in an administration related role with the capacity to understand and advise stakeholders on Defence policy related matters.
- An understanding of Army’s Human Resources Information System (PMKeyS) and information management processes using Objective.
