Betfair is growing fast. Our Tech & Product Team are working on some incredible initiatives at the moment These initiatives span the breadth of building next generation of channels through to streaming of enterprise scale data.

We have a strong growth target in place and we are going to go after it. And a key area of strategic investment to drive that growth, is going to be in our Tech & Product team and No-Ops Tech stack.

And this role has key ownership to deliver on the vision. **We’ve delivered the first initiative of mobile and we are only going to go faster - can you keep up?**

**What are we looking for?**
- A Data Guru who enjoys championing the use of data to realise strategic insights
- Someone who leverages their collaboration skills to extract valuable insights from highly complex data sets to ask the right questions and find the right answers
- A gun who enjoys leading data workstreams end to end
- A person who is analytically minded with a natural flair for troubleshooting and problem solving
- You take a hypothesis driven, data-first approach to attacking any problem

**Requirements**:
**With great progression, career development opportunities and the chance to work with the latest technology, a normal day in the role of the Data Development Lead includes**:

- Producing technical designs that describe the event streaming architecture
- Championing the use of data to realise strategic insights
- Extracting valuable insights from highly complex data sets
- Leading by example implementation of Kafka based solutions
- Automating operational documentation and testing of solutions
- Working with other members across the data team to find new opportunities for streaming solutions
- Working with an agile methodology to ensure planning, transparency and feedback of execution
- Assisting with driving cross-business unit initiatives that are efficient and effective

**But there is a catch. To be in the running for this great role, you should have**:

- A relevant tertiary degree or qualification
- Strong experience as a systems developer with a data focus
- Proven experience implementing Kafka or equivalent
- Solid experience with EMR or equivalent, Lambda functions and SQS
- Solid experience with Python, JavaScript and NodeJS
- Strong experience leading developers
- Proven experience in agile methodologies across the full Software Development Lifecycle
- You view software development as a never-ending process; always thinking about ways to improve
- Great interpersonal skills including an ability to develop key relationships
- You like hanging out with and being part of a team
- A strong curiosity that drives a deeper understanding of all things technical
- _Delivering utilising BDD or equivalent and integrating Martech systems - advantage_
- _Building noSQL solutions and terraform experience - advantage_
