Mercy Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.

About the opportunity

Clare Moore Building is a 50 bed Acute Inpatient Unit, based at Werribee Mercy Hospital. We cater for a range of consumers in the inpatient unit. Clare Moore Building has 3 Recovery Care Areas (RCA) and 1 Intensive Care Area (ICA). The unit is catered to the age group of 18 - 64 year old consumers.- Work within an innovative, professional team dedicated to helping people- Empower carers in supporting consumers to make their own choices about their treatment and recovery with an emphasis on building resilience- Utilise the safe wards model and the recovery plan in supporting, advocating and caring for consumers with a Mental Health illness and their families and carers- Assist families to understand and support the consumers recovery goals as well as their own identified recovery goals

To thrive in this role, you will be/have:
- An experienced and compassionate team player who can provide support to consumers and family members during admission- A person-centred approach in providing understanding and support to families/carers/supporters to lead their own recovery process.- Lived experience of supporting and caring for a person who has mental health issues is an essential prerequisite for this role and a good understanding of peer support frameworks would be beneficial. (Intentional Peer Support (IPS))- Good organisation and time management skills

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
