**About the opportunity**
Reporting to the Head of Policy, the Policy Lead - Safety will be directly responsible for leading the development, implementation, review and maintenance of RACV policy positions. This includes undertaking research, analysis and consultation to support RACV’s unique position as an organisation committed to products, services and advice that will improve the safety of the Victorian community. The position will have a focus on road safety, while contributing to other areas of safety policy that support Motoring & Mobility, Home and Leisure portfolios.

The role will work closely with Media and Communications, External Relations and other internal stakeholders to ensure a commercial, strategic and balanced approach to policy development.
Your primary focus will include:
- Own and drive the ongoing development of safety policy at RACV working with internal stakeholders to meet RACV’s purpose to improve lives.
- Support product and service development and delivery with robust policy development and research relating to safety, including new research.
- Amplify RACV’s commitment to Motoring and Mobility and Home Safety and champion the interests of RACV members via the development, coordination, and leadership of RACV’s safety policy formulation, built on evidence-based initiatives, high quality research and excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Become a recognised policy leader in the area of safety across RACV.
- Lead the expansion of safety related research and policy development underpinned by RACV’s organisation wide commercial and strategic priorities.
- Proactively lead and manage inputs from RACV’s CEO and Executive Leadership Team ensuring safety policy and research outputs strictly meet their requirements and expectations.
- Lead discussions and manage the input from across all RACV’s businesses to produce RACV’s Safety policy artefacts ensuring company positions are founded on documented, evidence-based initiatives and research.
**What you’ll need to be successful**
- Tertiary qualification in economics, public policy or politics, psychology, or a related discipline.
- Strong track record of successful stakeholder relationship building.
- 5-7 years’ experience in a policy related discipline.
- Prior experience in road safety policy would be advantageous.
- Experience in the preparation of high quality, well-written reasoned policy reports and recommendations.
- Experience in interacting effectively with private and public sector stakeholders and industry bodies.
