**Position Description: Garden Worker**

**1. Background and Experience**:
a) At least 2 years working in the capacity of a garden worker

b) Demonstrated experience in using necessary garden equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers, rakes, shovels and brooms

c) Ownership of equipment necessary to perform the tasks of a garden worker when on site

d) Must possess “clear” police check less than 12 months old

e) State worker screening or NDIS Worker Screening database (July 2020)

f) An understanding of disability and awareness of the National Disability Insurance Scheme

**2. Personal Qualities**: Garden Workers should demonstrate

a) An ability to prioritise work

b) Assess potential risks and act accordingly when using their equipment at a client residence

c) Display sensitivity to clients of different cultures, languages and customs when interacting with them

**3. Tasks**:
a) Maintain grass by mowing and using wiper snipper with own equipment

b) Weed garden beds, prune shrubs and small trees as required with own equipment

c) Dispose of all garden refuge and rubbish

d) Sweep and hose off concrete areas or other areas as required

e) Maintain safety at all times to ensure the client is not at risk of injury

f) Perform other tasks as required such as window washing or minor handyman tasks

**4.**In addition to the above tasks, Garden workers are expected to:
a) Document the issues or ring the employer promptly if there is an incident or accident which has occurred with a client of BHC whilst at their place of residence

b) In the case of emergency, ringing “000”

c) Participate in quality assurance and compliance process as and when required by the employer

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $36.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 per week

**Experience**:

- Gardening: 1 year (preferred)
