**Position Information**:
Canley Vale High School is a proud aspirational comprehensive high school that caters for the academic, social and emotional needs of approximately 1598 students, where 96% of the students are from a language background other than English, with the predominant language groups of Vietnamese, Khmer, Cantonese and Mandarin. The Cabrogal people of the Darug Nation are the traditional custodians of the Land upon which the school stands.

Canley Vale High School serves a culturally and linguistically diverse community that fosters a high expectation learning culture for all students to finish school ready to succeed in their chosen pathway as informed, engaged and responsible citizens. It includes a Special Education unit with five designated classes for neurodivergent learners.

The school's average FOEI is 143, which enables equity funds to strengthen learning, teaching, leadership, wellbeing initiatives and provide meaningful post-school pathways. Teachers implement evidence-informed practices to support quality teaching and whole-school explicit literacy and numeracy strategies. We support a wellbeing hub with access to specialist allied health services and two Community Liaison Officers, afterschool study hub and HSC tutorials to enable our students to excel in their education.

Canley Vale High School has a highly motivated and engaged staff to support a broad inclusive and innovative curriculum with strong co-curricular activities, relevant VET pathways, accelerated Mathematics program, targeted EAL/D and Literacy classes and a High Potential and Gifted Education program. Student leadership programs promote student voice and agency.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- A highly visible, approachable leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence who leads with integrity, courage and compassion to drive the School Excellence Plan to promote a culture of continuous improvement, advancing equitable outcomes and experiences for all learners.
- Demonstrated proven successful collaborative leadership to inspire and create a culture of high expectations driving innovation, evidence informed teaching practices and data analysis that enable all students to improve, achieve and thrive.
- Demonstrated consultative and collaborative leadership to develop and strengthen partnerships with parents, students and community to drive inclusion, student voice and positive respectful relationships.
- Instructional leadership with expertise in building staff capacity through innovative high-impact professional learning to improve student outcomes for a diverse range of learners including EALD, High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) and students with additional learning needs.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
