**About Us**

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

**About the Role**

The Registrar, Operations Manager, works collaboratively with the Senior Registrar to manage all court operations and is responsible for providing leadership to all staff employed within the court complex. This role ensures all legal, quasi-judicial and administrative functions are provided in accordance with the various Acts, Rules and Regulations across all relevant jurisdictions.

This role requires an excellent working knowledge of court protocols and procedures and significant experience in management and team leadership in a complex judicial environment with competing demands.

This role is also responsible for managing the registry functions, the maintenance and security of all court building and facilities. It therefore requires knowledge of the administrative requirements of all jurisdictions, operational management experience and sound judgement.

Key responsibilities include:

- Working collaboratively with the Senior Registrar, the Operations Manager of the Melbourne Magistrates' Court (MMC), will manage the operations of the court complex ensuring the delivery of court registry services and quasi-judicial functions in accordance with appropriate policies and court operational practices.
- Managing and leading staff in delivering responsive services by monitoring demand pressures, performance outputs, identifying service gaps and implementing effective solutions.
- Leading, developing and motivating staff and providing feedback on their performance in order to meet the Court's service delivery objectives while identifying service gaps and developing solutions for enhanced service delivery.
- Initiating, building and enhancing key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Judiciary, Court staff, the Department of Justice, a range of community organisations, and other Victorian Government Departments.
- Providing high-level, complex and authoritative advice on matters within the Court's jurisdictions to senior stakeholders including the Chief Magistrate, Supervising Magistrate/s, Chief Executive Officer, Court Executive group, the judiciary, staff and the public.

**About You**
- Demonstrated knowledge of Victorian Courts and Tribunals - extensive knowledge of legislation, practices, policies and procedures applicable to Victorian Courts and Tribunals
- Required technical skills and understanding required of a Registrar with extensive experience and verified leadership and organisational skills as well as staff management
- Certificate IV Court services or equivalent
