**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**

**The Role**
The Apprenticeships and Foundation Skills Division sits within the Skills and Training Group of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. The Division takes a national leadership role in apprenticeships and workforce skills training, developing policies and delivering programs to deliver a strong, sustainable pipeline of apprentices and trainees, and to increase adult language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills.
The work of the Division is delivered by four branches:
- **The Multilateral Policy Branch** leads policy design for foundation skills, the Australian Skills Guarantee, VET for secondary students. It also supports implementation of workforce mobility reforms, including supporting the Automatic Mutual Recognition Taskforce and management of a range of skills Commonwealth-State agreements.
- **The Apprenticeship Policy Branch** leads policy design for the Australian Apprenticeships system, including policy for Australian Government apprenticeship incentives, Commonwealth-State roles and responsibilities in relation to the apprenticeship system, management and leadership of apprenticeship data, services and systems and Business Sponsorship/Product Owner leading the design and development of the ADMS.
- **The Apprenticeship Operations Branch** manages and delivers a range of financial and non-financial supports for the Australian Apprenticeship system, including managing contractual arrangements with the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network, overseeing payment of apprenticeship incentives through the ADMS and TYIMS systems and managing operational policy and guidelines.
- **The Foundation and Transition Programs Branch** manages and delivers programs aimed at boosting language, literacy numeracy and digital foundations skills, as well as skills programs to assist transitions into work. These programs include the Skills for Education and Employment program, the Foundation Skills for Your Future program, Skills Checkpoint for Older Workers and the Commonwealth Scholarships for Young Australians.
There are a number of EL2 policy and program officer vacancies across the Division. Applicants are asked to indicate particular areas of interest. A merit pool will be created from this process and may be used to fill similar vacancies that may become available.
