The Youth Support Coordinator works closely with the Deans and Heads of Department to provide high quality support services to our students and families. The role supports the Deans, Heads of School, Head of Department and all school staff in providing a high level of relevant support to our students and families who are working in an on-line environment. BrisbaneSDE upholds the vision of the Proud at Work workforce strategy and believes the school should be an environment where staff and students feel safe, supported and valued for who they are. **Your opportunity**: As the Youth Support Worker, you will liaise between students, school personnel, and the home parents/guardians of any students who encounter educational, social, emotional or behaviour problems. This position will report to the Pathways and Engagement Head of Department P-10. **Your role**: Your role will be to ensure the requirements of the faculty are met. These requirements will include but not limited to: - Working closely with the Pathways and Engagement team to support students - Track, monitor and support new students identified through year level case management utilising available data - Monitor the attendance policy as a means of increasing awareness of students experiencing problems and allow for intervention before such problems get out of hand - Maintain spreadsheets, data bases and accurate record keeping - Forge links between the school and families of students who show persistent absence from schooling to encourage students' continuous attendance at school and to assist students to determine future educational requirements - Provide information about external services that can support students and families - Home visits with student/s and their families to advise and provide strategies for a more positive educational experience - Understand External VET, Compass, absences, student timetables, Year level events as per the school calendar - Maintain proactive engagement strategies and resources for students, parents/carers - Understand mandatory requirements regarding student protection - Contribute to a positive, caring and supportive school image in the community - Other duties as directed by the Team Leader including the support of other year levels when required **What you need to succeed**: **Mandatory requirements**: - When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services. **How to Apply**: - Attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history). - Attach a maximum 2-pg response to the "How you will be Assessed" section of the attached role description.
