The Bureau is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Systems Engineering and Quality Assurance (SE&QA) Manager. This is a key leadership position within the Operational Technology and Engineering (OTE) Section, which forms part of the Observing Systems and Operations (OSO) Program. The role provides specialist advice and will lead the development and implementation of processes that ensure systematic delivery of quality outcomes for observing infrastructure, architecture and equipment.

OTE Section consists of a diverse team of technical specialists and engineers responsible for the development and design of engineering and technological solutions, incorporating level three maintenance support, on a range of technologies spanning from radars to rainfall stations, drifting buoys to dedicated observations and satellites to ships at sea so as to meet business needs. The Systems Engineer and Quality Manager will be responsible for implementing systems and processes to ensure OTE engineering and sustainment activities are conducted in a common systematic manner that improves the quality of OTE outcomes.

The position will work closely with the related teams in other OSO sections (e.g. Infrastructure Delivery, National Observing Operations, Enterprise Asset Management Team) along with other business areas of the organisation, to develop and implement these capabilities.

The successful applicant will have extensive experience in implementing systems engineering, quality management and configuration management concepts, along with engineering planning and delivery. They will also have advanced stakeholder management capabilities, a high level of management skills, together with the ability to distil significant issues from complex material to develop workable solutions to problems.
