About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for an Avionics Engineer to make a valuable contribution on autonomous aircraft systems. Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will be based at either Melbourne CBD or Perth locations and will be employed on a permanent and full time basis. Other interstate locations will also be considered.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight and/ or hybrid working.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop and integrate avionic/electronic systems and equipment for autonomous aircraft including flight control, navigation, sensors, and communication subsystems
  • Utilise design capture and analysis tools effectively to produce high quality avionics engineering designs and products including interpretation of analysis results
  • Act as a point of contact and provide technical leadership to engineers, and establish good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and investigate engineering problems and risks, formulate strategies for their resolution

About YOU

  • Extensive avionics engineering experience or electronics engineering experience on aircraft.
  • Experience with aircraft writing standards and various avionics systems such as flight control, navigation, sensors and communication subsystems
  • A relevant tertiary engineering degree, the ability to investigate and resolve engineering technical risks/problems
  • Experience with radio frequency systems relevant to UAS/RPAS application, including telemetry, datalinks, and secure communication protocols
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with customers, internal and external stakeholders
  • Whilst not essential, engineering experience with Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), will be highly regarded
  • Whilst not essential, experience with Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulations and tools such as Matlab/Simulink will be highly regarded
