Events are the engine room of the Clubs activities with more than 1300, including internals, in the annual calendar. **The Role** This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your event management skills and join one of Melbourne's most prestigious establishments. The Events Manager will lead the events team and build on the foundations of our successful Club through the development and creation of signature events. Strong leadership and extraordinary creativity in the delivery of exceptional events. **Responsibilities** You will be responsible for everything that is generated from the Events and Functions office. With two direct reports you will oversee private functions and the Club's renown “Theme Table” calendar. You will focus on the signature events schedule including research for future event opportunities, collaborating with the membership to deliver events that meet their interests. With a love of hospitality and exceptional service delivery, you will excel at creating, planning, promoting and managing major events from end to end. You will lead, mentor and manage the team to become a high performing unit that has an eye for detail which occurs in an empathetic manner that holds everyone accountable for their individual performance. Sourcing, booking and managing talent and a network of external suppliers is also a key responsibility. **About You** - Be a conceptual thinker with superior problem solving skills, - Have proven experience creating and managing events and functions in a similar environment, - Be a friendly, energetic and highly motivated person with the ability to build rapport easily, - Have exceptional time and organisational skills, - Have a passion for quality food, beverage and service excellence, - Have excellent IT skills including a thorough understanding of audio visual equipment, - Have experience in writing event copy for marketing and promotional materials that are placed in the Club's monthly Bulletin and on the Members newsfeed App, - Have strong people management skills, displaying patience, flexibility, trust, good judgement, - Have strong business and financial awareness, with experience in final billing reconciliation and invoicing, - Have a hands on approach and be a "doer", willing to roll up your sleeves when required, - Have the ability to work hospitality hours supporting the operational team during the signature events - often held evenings and occasional weekends, - Have the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise. You will hold yourself to the highest standard so that your direct reports have a clear example of what they should strive for. Your presentation, integrity, honesty, and professionalism are crucial values. You are forward thinking and creative whilst still preserving the traditions of our Club.
