**About the Opportunity**

Reporting to the Director, Portfolio Financial Management, the Assistant Director, Portfolio Operations & Reporting, is responsible for managing all aspects of the Department portfolio budget and associated reporting, including the analysis of complex financial issues for senior management and the development and review of cabinet and other funding submissions. The role also focuses on:

- Leading an efficient internal budget coordination process and management function to ensure the optimum management of funds and risk management
- Efficient finance partnering with management of portfolio budgets including transport-related portfolio agencies to support, improve, and manage their financial performance
- Delivery of quality-assured consolidated financial reporting to both DoT's Leadership Committees and the Department of Treasury and Finance

The Investment and Technology Group is responsible for providing investment strategy and delivering commercial and information technology services to drive high performance and improved commercial outcomes for the State.

**About You**

We are seeking a leader adept at analysing complex financial issues with comprehensive experience across portfolio budgets and associated reporting, who is keen to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders. Additionally, we seek:

- In-depth working knowledge of financial reporting, budget position, cost pressures, savings, and reprioritisations, analysis and advice to senior management and Ministers regarding budget submissions, funding issues and regular financial reports

**Qualifications**
- Specialist qualification: finance or accounting degree and/or professional qualification such as CA or CPA (highly desirable)
- Strong knowledge of key processes involved in budgeting, finance and delivery of government business including preparation of Cabinet submissions
