**About the role**
The Engagement Officer supports the organisational focus on strategic engagement at all levels of Council, across multidisciplinary project teams, to strengthen local participatory democracy in the inner west. For this role 'engagement' means the process by which the community/ stakeholders participate in and influence Councils decision making through consultation.
This position is part of a high-performance team that develops, implements and evaluates Council's Community Engagement Framework, policy, guidelines and tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of stakeholder, community and internal engagement at Inner West Council.
Working as part of the Communications, Engagement and Corporate Strategy service unit, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to plan, prioritise and build relationships, and be a team player.
You will advocate for best-practice engagement across Council’s projects, programs and service delivery, and work collaboratively to ensure the success of the team.

**Remuneration**
$82,660.76 - $92,580.28 + Superannuation
**Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications**
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in communications, social sciences or related discipline, or relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and delivering engagement events such as community pop-ups and public meetings.
- Demonstrated practical experience in planning and partnering with project teams to execute engagement projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex and technical information into clear, concise messages and prepare high quality communications materials.
