**About us**

Aboriginal Community Housing Limited (ACHL) is supported by Community Housing Limited (CHL) in its operation as it strives to become an independent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led and managed national housing organisation. It is a community housing organisation that manages properties across Australia, with an aim to provide culturally appropriate property and tenancy management nationally.

**The Role**

Join our team supporting the implementation of ACHL and CHL’s Community Development Framework in the region. You will be responsible for assisting the development and sustainability of community development projects that reflect local identity, build community capacity to actively participate in community life, and create places that are meaningful and culturally appropriate to local communities.

Fostering community development activities in accordance with ACHL and CHL’s Community Development Framework (CDF) and role model commitment to the community development and action principles. This will include:

- Engage closely with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, and create projects from community ideas, ensuring community ownership of projects.
- Manage and facilitate community development projects.
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government agencies, community organisations, research bodies and private sector businesses.
- Assist in promoting ACHL and CHL’s CDF to colleagues, partner agencies and communities.
- Support effective communication with colleagues across ACHL and CHL about community development initiatives and outcomes.
- Participate collaboratively in ACHL and CHL’s community development peer support network.

**About You**

You will demonstrate experience in a similar role, including working in partnership and building relationships with community networks. You will also have great local knowledge of the region, including existing networks and demonstrated acceptance in the communities in which you will work.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Exceptional communication skills, including include the ability to communicate clearly within complex and diverse conversational contexts.
- Demonstrated time management skill a including high level administration and coordination.
- A positive attitude when working towards achieving deliverables, including a passion for using your initiative, innovation and creativity.
- Knowledge of the work area to assist in decision making and solutions for day-to-day problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as part of a wider team and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- A current drivers licence.
- A commitment to the right of all people to affordable and sustainable housing.

Please note that satisfactory police check is required for all staff and those with client related responsibilities are required to provide a NDIS and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
