About the Role- Lead AGL’s Occupational Health, Hygiene and Safety programs across a number of business units- Contribute to ensuring the safety of AGL’s workforce in relation to hazardous materials- Gain exposure across diverse Gas, Hydro and other business units
An opportunity has become available for a Occupational Health, Hygiene and Safety Lead to drive AGL’s commitment to OHH&S within a large, complex organisation that offers a genuine commitment to the health and safety of our workforce.
In this key role, you will ensure potential health and safety hazards are identified, evaluated and controlled by designing, implementing and managing effective health, hygiene and safety programs that meet desired business and regulator outcomes.
Working as part of a broader team of OHH&S professionals, this role will allow you to grow and develop your career by gaining exposure to a broad range of activities relating to OHH&S, across a number of different areas of AGL including Torrens Island and Barker Inlet (Gas)
- Adelaide, Hydro
- VIC and NSW and Customer Markets.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, implement and govern hygiene monitoring programs to identify potential hazards such as dusts, noise, asbestos, chemicals, metals, heat stress, and emerging hazards, using a risk-based approach.- Developing, recommending and implementing occupational hygiene management strategies for eliminating or controlling hazards whilst ensuring AGL is meeting regulatory and legal obligations- Provision of advice, support, guidance and coaching to raise health and safety awareness and assist in the identification, assessment and mitigation of risk occurrence of injuries, illness and disease.To develop hygiene monitoring programs across various sites, travel to Mt Beauty, Melbourne and other locations is a requirement of this role. The anticipated travel commitment will consist of approx. 1-2 weeks away every 2 months.
About You
Excited by the opportunity to make a real difference in improving the effectiveness of AGL’s occupational hygiene monitoring programs, you are a strong communicator with the ability to influence a variety of key stakeholders to promote awareness of the importance of OHH&S programs and processes.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- B.App.Sc (or other relevant qualification) along with experience focussed on Occupational Health, Hygiene and safety within the energy, construction or resource industries- Experience in developing and implementing hygiene monitoring and safety programs- Solid experience in conducting hazardous materials surveys, risk assessment and recommending controls-
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills combined with effective communication skills - written and verbal.- Commitment to meet site based travel requirements- A current drivers licence
