**About the team**:
The National Measurement Institute (NMI) is the measurement science, services and regulatory division of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. As well as being Australia's link into international measurement activities including those of the Metre Treaty and OIML Convention, NMI is Australia's peak measurement body, responsible for maintaining and disseminating Australia's physical measurement standards, and providing a range of biological, chemical, legal, and physical measurement services including through the administration of the National Measurement Act. NMI has a national footprint, with research laboratories in Melbourne and Sydney. We value the different skills, knowledge and perspectives our staff bring. The roles are within the National Measurement Institute's Quality & Safety Team, which works alongside technical and scientific personnel to support them to safely deliver regulatory activities, scientific research and a wide variety of measurement based services such as chemical analyses, sample testing, calibration services, and equipment testing,. The Quality team is responsible for the continuous improvement and maintenance of the NMI Quality Management System, including to assure conformity with ISO 17025 and other applicable standards. The WHS team maintains the health and safety management system and supports a physically and psychologically safe working environment. The section provides guidance and advice to NMI staff in investigating and resolving quality non-conformances, safety incidents, and hazards.

**Experience and Qualifications**
- Experience with maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS) or Work Health and Safety Management Systems (WHSMS) is highly desirable;
- Experience conducting internal audits and verifying implementation of corrective actions to address non-conformances is highly desirable;
- Tertiary level qualifications in a STEM field is highly desirable.

**What you will do**:

- Provide operational support and continuous improvement of QMS / WHSMS;
- Complete internal audits to verify implementation and conformance of quality and safety systems;
- Complete safety inspections in a laboratory environment to a high standard;
- Assist in the investigation of WHS incidents and review of quality and safety corrective actions
- Provide advice to NMI staff and managers in relation to safety or quality better practice
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as NATA and Comcare
- Have experience in enterprise risk management and project management;
- Maintain and build excellent working relationships with NMI’s stakeholders;
- Anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations;
