**THE OPPORTUNITY**
We are looking for an experienced Medical Affairs Leader to be responsible for managing the Medical Review Team and to be part of the senior leadership team within Medical Affairs for Australia and New Zealand.
This role oversees an experienced team and is responsible for the review processes associated with promotional materials, training content, meeting materials and materials used with the general public.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
- Work to provide advice, support and direction on industry standards such as the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and Medicines New Zealand Code of Practice, and relevant local and global standards for MSD to cross functional stakeholders
- Collaborate extensively with and influence senior stakeholders from across the organisation to ensure that the MSD medical review processes run seamlessly
- Work in partnership with Marketing and other departments to ensure that created materials align to business strategy whilst remaining balanced, accurate and compliant
- Manage the process of Medical Review and identify ways to improve timeliness and efficiency without compromising quality
- Provide management, motivation, coaching and visible leadership to the Medical Review Team
- Collaborate with direct reports for their development
- Participate as an active member of the Medical Leadership Team
- Manage and coordinate responses to Medicines Australia Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee requests
- Be a key member of the team in the event of complaints initiated or defended by MSD
- Train Medical Affairs staff to achieve required standards of medical review
- Develop and maintain guidelines and SOPs and ensure work practices and documentation are aligned
- Monitor review processes through the analysis of KPIs
**ABOUT YOU**
You will have:
- 5+ years relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
- Tertiary Qualifications: Degree in Pharmacy, Medicine or Pharmacology
- People Management experience
**Knowledge /Skills/Competencies**
- Thorough knowledge of the Medicines Australia Code and Medicines New Zealand Code of Practice, the Therapeutic Goods Act, the Medicines Act and other relevant local laws or guidelines related to pharmaceuticals
- Strong understanding of the Australian and New Zealand pharmaceutical industry and healthcare environment
- Ability to positively influence cross functional stakeholders using your exceptional interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and accurately to all levels of the business
- A collaborative approach to team management
- A proactively approach to identifying opportunities for improvement
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly and manage variety of tasks under pressure
