Great opportunity available during maternity leave cover for an experienced public health medical advisor to work in Health Protection NSW. Come join a supportive team of medical advisors who provide leadership and advice on dynamic and emerging health protection issues.

**About the role**

Health Protection NSW is part of the Health System Support Group, with a reporting line to the Deputy Secretary, Population and Public Health Division and Chief Health Officer, NSW Ministry of Health. Health Protection NSW works closely with NSW public health units in preventing, reducing, and controlling communicable diseases and environmental health risks, and improving health equity in New South Wales through targeted and long-term programs.

**What you will do**

Reporting to the Executive Director Health Protection NSW, the medical advisor is responsible for providing cross-branch technical expertise and medical leadership on health protection issues. This senior role works closely with Health Protection NSW directors to provide public health advice and input into effective prevention, surveillance, assessment, and management strategies for health protection issues.
