**The Role**
The Assistant Technical Mastery Development Officer (A/TMDO) reports to the Technical Mastery Development Officer (TMDO). Your role will be to support junior sailor trade progression within your region, and, optimise efforts to improve wider technical mastery opportunities to upskill the workforce through an ongoing Secondment and Technical Assist program.
Aspects of the role include:
- Assist in the establishment of individual training development plans with FSU member to ensure they meet their career and technical trade progression needs, including meeting Australian Skills Quality Authority (AQSA) competency journal requirements.
- Assist in the effective management of Secondment Deeds to ensure ADF members are developing their trade and technical mastery effectively while working with ADF and Industry Partners.
- Assist with administrative practices and processes, regularly monitoring to ensure adherence associated to industry and defence regulatory and business requirements.
- Assist in other duties as directed by the TMDO.
**About our Team**
The mission of Fleet Support Unit - Australia (FSU-AUST) is to provide Australia wide maintenance repair, overhaul and technical services to NSSG/CASG and Royal Australian Navy, and by doing so also increase technical mastery of our personnel.
A key enabler for this to occur is the Assistant Technical Mastery Development Officer (A/TMDO), which is out-posted from the National Office in Sydney CBD.
FSU-AUST is geographically dispersed across four states and made up of approximately 800 technical sailors and a small number of APS staff.
We are the largest employer of technical sailors in the Navy and maintain a large number of secondments with industry suppliers to upskill our workforce.
In concert with highly skilled staff, FSU maintains significant engineering facilities and capabilities, which are used to generate extensive sustainment cost savings to Defence.
The National Office comprises of approximately 40 team members headed by the Executive Director.
The ability to work within a team and collaborate with the wider team across FSU-AUST to meet organisational goals.
Manage workflows, resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
FSU are looking for someone who can demonstrate a passion for compliance and assurance as well as continuous improvement in training and technical mastery development.
