**The Role**
The Youth Development and Voyage Coordinator provides expertise pivotal to the effective delivery of the Young Endeavour Program.
Key deliverables include:
- Program evaluation and research to inform recommendations, implement changes and update program documentation and resource guides;
- STS Young Endeavour’s annual voyage schedule - liaising with stakeholders to balance competing priorities and optimise program delivery;
- Staff training packages (online) and research/program updates (in person) for colleagues and stakeholders;
- Selection and administration of youth participants (team leader), and reports on participation, diversity, accessibility and participant outcomes;
- Coordination of community day sails, international exchanges, corporate training and young leaders programs; and
- Draft policies, decision briefs, board papers and other business documents.
The role participates in an out-of-hours duty roster, and joins circa two voyages each year (requiring an assessment of fitness for duty at sea).
The role is primarily office based; however, some travel is required to support activities during the voyage program and to conduct program evaluation and staff training, including working at sea aboard STS Young Endeavour.
**About our Team**
The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme (YEYS) is a Commonwealth program delivering world-class development opportunities for young Australians aboard Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour.
Our integrated APS/ADF team is responsible for program development, youth crew selection and administration, marketing communication and partnerships, commercial operations, and governance. We also administer the YEYS Public Fund Trust.
YEYS works closely with Navy and Defence to deliver the Young Endeavour Program, support youth policy outcomes, maintain partnerships and build awareness of Navy in the community. We are currently dual focused - delivering a program of voyages around Australia, and preparing for expansion and introduction into service of a new, larger sail training ship.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to program development, evaluation and engagement initiatives in support of a leading youth development program.
We are looking for a proactive team player who brings substantial expertise in youth program development and delivery, as well as operational planning and coordination; and can work collaboratively to achieve results during a period of organisational change and program expansion.
- Demonstrate personal accountability, and the ability to manage competing priorities and execute initiatives to achieve outcomes;
- Enjoy working under limited direction in a fast paced, cyclic work environment, and be willing to collaborate and pitch in to support colleagues in a small team;
- Possess very strong written and interpersonal communication skills, and be capable of working with a wide variety of customers and stakeholders;
- Have proven research skills, a good level of computer literacy, and experience analysing and presenting data to inform program development;
- Bring operational planning experience in the maritime environment, outdoor education sector or similar; and
