The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking an IT Manager who will be responsible for managing the Gallery’s Information Technology team, services, and projects to contribute to the organisation’s strategic direction and goals.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
You will manage the IT team by aligning them with the NGV’s strategic direction and goals through effective people management and modelling. This includes clearly defining role expectations, monitoring performance, providing timely and constructive feedback and facilitating employee development and also includes ensuring a safe and healthy environment. Other key responsibilities include:

- Developing, tracking and reporting on the IT departmental budget and relevant project budgets. Identifying opportunities throughout the organisation to use technology to improve efficiencies and create value.
- Responsibly managing risks, including cybersecurity, IT procurement processes and contract management. Managing vendors and service providers, ensuring they meet the NGV’s security, compliance, performance, and service requirements. Manage IT audits including the NGV’s response to findings and recommendations.
- Providing specialist IT advice to other senior staff to assist with the development of business cases and scoping documents relevant to their business requirements. With the Head of IT, co-chair the NGV’s internal ICT Steering Committee.

To be successful you will have tertiary qualifications in Information Technology and relevant experience. You can maximise effectiveness by selecting, developing and managing a high performing team. You communicate clearly understanding the target audience and the objectives of the communication. You confidently convey ideas and information in a clear and interesting way, building behind-the-scenes support for ideas to ensure buy-in and ownership and with an ability to gain agreement to proposals and ideas.

You can develop and manage complex budgets, monitoring expenditure against budget projections, planning for and managing risks. You use fair, transparent, and competitive purchasing processes and establish clear and comprehensive contracts, actively resolving problems where they arise. You also can demonstrate effective project management through the ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, reviewing and adjusting as required.
