Steelmaking Coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five Steelmaking Coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in Steelmaking Coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North-West Queensland and Western Australia.

**Job Description**:
The Associate Program is a structured four-year program combining full-time on-the-job experience with financed part-time study through the University of Southern Queensland. You will be provided with a range of support to ensure your successful completion of the program, including ongoing mentoring and support.

Being an Anglo American Associate Surveyor means becoming part of a dedicated technical team who:

- Leverage technical software systems and equipment to provide statutorily compliant survey designs and approaches,
- Conduct weekly production survey calculations, &
- Input and report on various software data analytics.

You will contribute to these mining and engineering, toparchical and hydrological survey activities by:

- Installing survey stations for measurement takings,
- Collecting information and documenting of field data,
- Operating surveying equipment such as laser scanners, GPS, peg-outs, and various software systems, &
- Collaborating with and assisting to direct production and technical services personnel

The completion of the program further enhances your flexibility, support, and job security as you will:

- Gain a nationally recognized, Associate certification,
- Secure a permanent Surveyor position with the Company, or
- Continue your studies within Surveying or another functional area with the same financial support and secured position opportunity with the Company.

**Qualifications**:
Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

- High school English and Mathematics (C grade or higher), AND
- A secondary qualification (Year 12 or equivalent), OR
- An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, OR

We are looking for people to join us in the Associate role who meet the following criteria:

- Interested in working in the mining industry in a hands-on technical role.
- Currently located in or willing to relocate to one of our mining communities.
- Has passed high-school level English and Mathematics
- Current Australian driver's licence (Provisional Licence at a minimum).
- Mathematic & science inclination.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Investigation, judgement, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret data analytics.
- Results driven with strong collaborative & detail-orientated skills.
