**About the team**

The Fast Rail Team, based in the Regional and Outer Metropolitan division of TfNSW, is centred on delivering faster, more efficient, and reliable journey times along strategic corridors that link our major cities and growing regional centres.
**The opportunity**
We have a fixed term opportunity through to April 2026 for our workstream Technical Lead -Alignment. This role will enable you to work in a hybrid way - a balance of attending the office at Milsons Point to connect and collaborate in person, mixed with working virtually to achieve the best outcomes.
In this role you will lead a team and provide technical leadership, focus, representation and direction to the Fast Rail project - for the development of design for the Fast Rail alignment works comprising the trackway, civil works, tunnels, bridges and rail systems and interface to existing rail infrastructure.
You will also lead the deployment of internal and external design, engineering and technical resources and capability in collaboration with the project team and other relevant stakeholders.
The role is a key senior position within the Fast Rail development team and will be accountable to the Director Design.
The role will oversee the development of design for the required rail alignment infrastructure that meets the functional requirements and aspirations of the Fast Rail project.
You’ll enable development and delivery of the infrastructure designs to meet the project requirements, stakeholder needs and rail safety, to optimum-quality, on time and on budget, with minimum proposed impact to the community and the environment. The role will work closely with the Fast Rail Technical Lead - Infrastructure to deliver the overall Fast Rail Project Works.
**Key accountabilities**:
- Implement and lead collaborative relationships between Technical Services, development and delivery clients and stakeholders
- Ensure clear accountabilities within the matrix operating model
- Be accountable for development of Final Business Case design for Fast Rail Alignment within the timeframes mutually agreed with the team
- Facilitate and lead the provision of expert and specialised advice and proactive resolution of aligned with mutually agreed project milestones
- Motivate, inspire and empower the development of a positive, inclusive and engaged team with a clear focus on the delivery of outcomes and the continued development of capabilities across the team.
**About You**
Engaging with multiple stakeholders with competing priorities will come with ease, you’ll be comfortable resolving conflict and resetting priorities in a large complex matrix environment. You will demonstrate your ability to be accountable for the delivery of integrated and engineering services in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in assessing and managing risk, with the ability to recommend and make sound judgements on technical issues, as well as familiarity with hierarchy of design criteria is paramount. You will also have a proven ability in assessing, endorsing, or escalating approvals of departures / concessions from design standards.
