Support the business to achieve budgetary targets through effective management of the Estimating Department, development of business opportunities and submission of successful tenders to the company’s customers.

Experience and knowledge:

- Experience of steel fabrication within the mining sector
- Ability to estimate using first principle techniques, tonne rates and norms
- Experience of estimating small to large sized fabrication projects
- Experience at a Senior Estimator or Manager level
- Sound knowledge of quality requirements around welding
- Strong IT Literacy with the ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of packages
- Working knowledge of Strumis is highly regarded

Operational:

- Day-to-day management of the Estimating team.
- Manage client relationships for both new and existing clients to deliver the best service to clients throughout the tender process
- Review client documentation including drawings, scope of works and completing MTO’s
- Compile all aspects of the tender, clearly outlining inclusion and exclusions, using first principle, norms and tonnage rates methods
- Responsible for all clients and supplier negotiations to deliver the most successful outcome for the company
- Manage the engagement and performance of external contractor and suppliers and monitor the quality and standard of services delivered by external contractors.
- Work closely with the project delivery team to ensure effective handover and execution of projects to meet client expectations and ensure project profitability
- Review completed projects to analyse total project cost against submitted estimate, investigating variations and implementing improvements to ensure lessons learnt are used to improve the profitability of future bids
- Work with the workshop management team to drive productivity improvements
- Complete reviews on all tenders prior to submission
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and legislative provisions
- Develop and maintain effective network through collaborative relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers

HSEQ:

- Lead and drive a safe working culture, actively promoting safety awareness, safe working practices and compliance with safety management plans.
- Ensure all activities undertaken are designed and planned in accordance with our client's HSEQ management systems and standards and in compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement to Heath, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance.
- Support the HSEQ Manager in providing any information required for HSEQ audits

Financial:

- Ensure all RFQ’s are qualified within the team to ensure project scope is clearly determined and pricing maximises profitability for the company, whilst still maintaining competitive advantage.
- Ensure project delivery is within specified timelines and project profitability is attained.
- Manage the engagement and performance of external contractor and suppliers to ensure cost effectiveness with the companies’ budget.
