As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of role
Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Portfolio Management is responsible for leading and managing the provision of the systematic management of QFES ICT investments, governance, portfolio, projects, and assurance activities to support QFES operations and organisational capability. The ICT Engagement and Partnership unit manages the engagement with key internal stakeholders, as well as ICT service partners to determine approaches to accessing services and solutions to ICT and business problems. The unit is also responsible for monitoring programs of work to ensure reliable, high quality and contemporary ICT products and solutions meets the requirements and expectations of operational and business units within defined contractual arrangements and agreements.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be responsible for the operational management of ICT contracts, including planning for the renewal of contracts, management of contract changes, monitoring of service levels and outputs against contract terms and conditions, and the identification, management and escalation of any contract issues and risks to ensure the delivery of business outcomes while maximising value to QFES.

- Knowledge and/or experience or qualifications in procurement, commerce, business.
- Experience in managing contracts and contractual relationships within a partnering and performance framework.
- Knowledge and experience in Queensland Information Technology Contracting Frameworks and supply chain contracts management.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Contribute to the development of contract management plans to achieve the required outcomes, with a focus on benefits realisation and ensuring risk, probity and transparency requirements are observed.
- Administer contracts and deliver expected outcomes through active review and management of contract performance and key performance indicators to enable effective monitoring and reporting as agreed to in ICT Service Level Agreements.
- Maintain contract integrity by documenting all amendments and keeping appropriate records, ensuring agreements meet compliance with best practice guidelines, frameworks and legislative requirements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and service suppliers to ensure contract performance, renewals and/or variations are responsive to current and future needs.
- Prepare and review of reports, submissions, briefs and other correspondence relating to external providers and contract matters, in accordance with departmental requirements.
- Support a team of ICT professionals, ensuring an efficient and effective environment that facilitates quality services and delivers value for money outcomes.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of contemporary contract management practices, including their relationship with relevant government and departmental policies and initiatives.
