**About the facility**

Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 6,500 staff and more than 1000 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 21 key locations throughout the region.

**About the role**

Barwon Health is advertising for an exciting opportunity for either dual-trained paediatric endocrinology-general paediatricians, paediatric endocrinologists or general paediatricians with a particular interest in diabetes, to join our team starting at your earliest availability.

The Paediatric Diabetic Service at Barwon Health currently comprises four paediatricians working on a part-time basis, as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of paediatric diabetic nurse educators, dietitian, and social worker. The service model is based on week-long service periods taking in multidisciplinary diabetic clinics and oversight of a Hospital in the Home program, as well as support of paediatricians managing acute inpatient diabetic admissions as required.

The Diabetic Service sits with the General Paediatric unit with provides an encompassing paediatric service to the Geelong and Bellarine communities. There is a particular emphasis on all medical staff playing an active role in quality and safety improvement initiatives. The unit has immediate access to world standard research through the Deakin University Child Health Research Unit that is heavily embedded in the clinical space.
