Principal Advisor

In the role of Principal Advisor, you will lead and manage complex innovative projects and advice on commercial planning or governance projects designed to shape key strategies, policies and plans for an integrated transport system across Queensland, with specific relevance to Queensland Ports, Queensland Rail Transit Authority (Queensland Rail) and Transmax Pty Ltd (Transmax). You will be responsible for enhancing the capacity and ability of TMR to deliver government priorities and meet stakeholder expectations with a particular focus on policy and governance related to government owned transport entities.
**Accountabilities include**:
- Working with team members and internal and external stakeholders, develop high-level briefing notes, submissions, reports and other project-related documents and general correspondence strategic policy directions for sustainable, efficient and integrated port operation and development in Queensland.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of strategic transport policies, plans and strategies, across a range of issues relating to an integrated transport system ensuring consistency with sustainable, efficient and integrated port operations.
- Analyse and prepare authoritative and timely advice on the financial and strategic performance of state-owned transport entities in meeting Ministerial and departmental expectations and relevant legislative requirements.
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior representatives of relevant state and Australian government agencies, ports and the Queensland Ports Association, ensuring Queensland's policy positions are reflected in state and national policy agendas.
- Contributing to the preparation of accurate and timely advice for the Ministers and Senior Executives on a range of issues related to ports policy and governance.
- Critically analysing and preparing correspondence, cabinet submissions, briefing notes and recommendations on complex policy issues in relation to ports policy.
- Actively participating in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance management.
This position reports to the Manager (Governance and Ports).
