Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.
An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic Operating theatre technician, Grade 5 (IN11) to join our Austin Operating Suite.
The Perioperative, Surgery and Endoscopy Services on Austin campus includes 11 Operating rooms, 2 Procedure rooms, 2 Endoscopy rooms, a Recovery unit with a high dependency patient facilities, and a Surgery and Endoscopy Centre with up to 12 overnight beds to care for day surgery and day of surgery admissions (DOSA) patients.25, 000 surgical and endoscopy procedures are undertaken per annum in this area. The acute service for emergency surgery is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The elective service operates Monday to Friday only. The Austin Perioperative Service has a strong commitment to professional support and education of staff and continuously ensuring our patients receive excellence in care at all times.
The services provide a broad range of elective and acute surgical procedures including liver transplant and cardiac surgery.

Ensure all aspects of OH&S and infection control principles are adhered to and integrated into all work practices.**:
- ** Contribute to an environment of multidisciplinary teamwork, maintaining a flexible approach to working in all specialised areas of the operating suite.**:
- ** To test, use maintain equipment and technology that is required for surgery and which fall within the technician's responsibility.**:
- ** To prepare and maintain the operating room environment to ensure safe and efficient operating during surgery and subsequent procedures.**:
- ** Undertake all technical duties as listed in the operating technician position description.**:
- ** Assist technicians in other operating rooms as required.**
**To be successful in this role you must**:

Certificate 3 or 4 in health care ( Theatre technician )**:
- ** Minimum 3 years’ experience as an operating theatre technician.**:
- ** Ability to work in a team environment.**:
- ** Ability to problem solve in a variety of situations.**
