**Public Sector People** are currently working with a high-profile government department. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AO8 Manager to join our team Customer and Strategy Division to assess industry skills.

The Manager, Industry Skills is responsible for leading and managing the development and effective implementation of industry skills strategic initiatives, approaches and programs to support the Department.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead the Department's industry skilling programs and work plans, including:

- Capture and testing of evidence to encourage and substantiate skilling initiatives that sustain the Department's strategic and operational decisions;
- Leading internal and external stakeholder development and analysis including writing engagement frameworks and reporting mechanisms;
- Providing leadership and coaching to internal business units to ensure a whole of Department approach to industry skilling initiatives; and
- Leading and managing functional and situational workgroups to deliver programs and, when required, project outcomes. Identify training and professional development needs and opportunities for coaching and mentoring staff involved with industry continuing professional development.
- Actively identify opportunities to pursue initiatives which assist the Department to expand the skills and capability of customers, including licensees, industry stakeholders and homeowners.
- Prepare a wide range of formal correspondence, including research outcomes, briefing notes and correspondence for internal use by the Department and externally to Government, industry and consumer stakeholders.
- Represent the Department at industry and government forums.
- Establish, develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders including industry associations and organisations, community groups, and industry skilling providers to achieve greater awareness of the Department's aims, and to foster a co-operative or partnership approach to fulfil the Department's aims, and to maintain current knowledge of relevant industry and regulatory happenings.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as business, education, or engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management role in the building and construction industry, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement.
