**Strategic Analyst - NSW Government**

A Strategic Analyst is required by a NSW Government Department in Parramatta (hybrid office and working from home) on an initial 6-month contract.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Contribute to the development of priority forecasts
- Perform and contribute to analysis to better understand our customers and their behaviour
- Manage and maintain data and information required for analytics and forecasting and/or geospatial models at agreed levels of quality and integrity.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to help resolve new analytical challenges
- Communicate the outcomes from analyses that ensures easy uptake by non
- specialists in other areas of the business
- Provide fit-for-purpose analytics services for Customer, Strategy and Engagement.
- Work collaboratively within the Customer and Strategic Insights team to provide data and analytics support
- Identify opportunities for improvement using creative problem-solving techniques.
- Support the development of insight and intelligence that will enable an understanding the operating environment, future trends and customer requirements.
- Support the development of models and forecasts that are used as inputs for decision-making.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders to enable access to all key data (historical, current and emerging sources) and to maintain an understanding of their needs.

**Selection criteria**:

- Relevant tertiary-level qualifications (i.e. economics, engineering, statistics, mathematics or science)
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
- High level skills in use of analytical software such as SPSS, R, Python or similar and/or a high-level proficiency in geospatial packages.
- Strong problem solving and lateral / critical thinking skills
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in working with large quantities of data including a detailed knowledge of the principles of data manipulation and analysis
- Demonstrated experience in scoping and undertaking strategic data analysis processes
