**Position Information**:
Leumeah High School is a large, co-educational, comprehensive school in South-Western Sydney with a school enrolment of 700. Approximately 45% of students possess a language background other than English and an additional 9% identify as First Nations students.
Over the past five years the school has been recognised for its strong pastoral care and wellbeing programs with its best practice implementation of PBIS. The school possesses a strong, committed and dedicated staff who have worked hard to improve the quality of teaching with staff reflecting on evidence and current pedagogical changes and research based practices combined with a meaningful implementation of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers being school priorities for professional learning.
There is a broad academic curriculum, with future focused learning at its core. All students are equipped with iPads to enable them to access the innovative teaching and learning programs. Faculties are driving the implementation of innovative pedagogical processes designed to enhance the capacity of each of our students to function in an ever-changing digital world.
Student leadership is supported and encouraged through an active Student Representative Council and Aboriginal Representative Council. Students are afforded leadership opportunities in the arts, sports and school service.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Proven ability to be an accessible leader who fosters successful partnerships with key stakeholders and possesses exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate and manage the complexities of a wellbeing and learning support faculty.
Proven commitment and ability to work as a member of the executive team focusing on the school’s strategic priorities to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching, learning and wellbeing.
Demonstrated ability to lead the wellbeing and learning and support teams to deliver a coordinated, whole school approach to improve outcomes for all students and foster a positive school culture.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the complex educational and welfare needs of First Nations students and students from diverse backgrounds and abilities to ensure specialist support is tailored to each child as required.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
