**Position Information**:
Canley Vale High School is a proud aspirational comprehensive high school that caters for the academic, social and emotional needs of approximately 1598 students, where 96% of the students are from a language background other than English. The Cabrogal people of the Darug Nation are the traditional custodians of the Land.
Canley Vale High School serves a culturally and linguistically diverse community that fosters a high expectation learning culture for all students to finish school ready to succeed in their chosen pathway as an informed and responsible citizen. It includes a Special Education unit with 5 designated classes for neuro-diverse learners. Equity funds are used to strengthen leadership, teaching, learning, student wellbeing and development, through explicit Literacy and Numeracy support, a wellbeing hub, access to specialist allied health services and two Community Liaison Officers.
Canley Vale High School has a highly motivated and engaged staff to support a broad and relevant curriculum including VET pathways; accelerated Mathematics program; designated EAL/D and Literacy classes; High Potential and Gifted Education programs (HPGE), student leadership and STEAM education. A Study Centre and HSC tutorials support our students to achieve excellence in education.
Canley Vale High School has productive partnerships with its local primary schools, universities, external agencies and community organisations to provide opportunities and experiences for all students to receive a high-quality education that enables them to excel.
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Highly developed leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with students and parents/carers and positively contribute to the executive team to drive the school improvement plan in leading initiatives to enhance the engagement and wellbeing of all students.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead the analysis of data to implement evidence informed whole-school wellbeing approaches to support student learning and engagement creating a positive school culture that values student voice.
Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with students, families and communities to foster a culture that values diversity, reconciliation and inclusion to meet the welfare needs of students from low socio-economic communities and language backgrounds other than English.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
