**Who we are**
There are two positions available based in the Detection Capability Section. The section works closely with internal and external stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of border screening by providing detection systems and policy capability. The section is responsible for the development and management of the biosecurity detector dog program, 2D and 3D x-ray and for the delivery of highly innovative detection capability projects.

**The Jobs**
The vacancies are based at the Sydney Gateway Facility and Melbourne Gateway Facility/Melbourne Jet Base. The APS 5 X-ray Technology Team Leaders will report directly to the Detection Technologies Operational Leads based in Melbourne and Sydney and will focus on supporting the delivery of a range of key project outputs. Specific duties will include:

- leading validation testing of algorithms and the Rapiscan RTT110 3D x-ray user interfaces
- supporting and guiding Biosecurity Operations Division staff in the use of 3D x-ray technology
- leading location related record keeping and operational administration
- promoting and complying with departmental Work Health and Safety (WHS) and rehabilitation policies and guidelines
- troubleshooting and reporting x-ray faults
- coordinating and undertaking on-call arrangements to support the 3D x-ray operations across airport and mail
- coordinating with and assisting other agencies including the Australian Border Force (ABF) and Australia Post in operating the 3D x-ray unit.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
The successful applicants will have experience in:

- biosecurity operations in an airport and/or mail environment
- biosecurity officer delegation (preferred but not essential)
- 2D x-ray and/or 3D x-ray unit (preferred but not essential).

The successful applicants must:

- note that the position may require them to participate in an on-call roster (for which an appropriate restriction allowance will be paid) and be available to perform duty outside standard hours
- note that you may be required to perform occasional out-of-hours and weekend work
- wear an official uniform supplied by the department, including during field operations (as applicable), in accordance with the department’s uniform policy
- wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures
- note that there may be a requirement to travel interstate from time to time.
