**Purpose**
- Lead the continuous improvement of CHW’s environmental performance through optimising the

Environmental Management System (EMS) and building a culture of environmental care.
- Ensuring that CHW’s EMS remains compliant with the prevailing international standards, aligned with CHW’s

environmental compliance and policy objectives and continues to be both fit for purpose and user friendly.
- Inspire, educate, lead and audit the organisation in the pursuit of best practice environmental performance

and environmental compliance.

**Key Duties/Responsibilities**
- Maintain and continuously improve CHW’s Environmental Management System to ensure its ongoing

certification and effectiveness in supporting CHW’s environmental performance obligations and aspirations.
This includes auditing, legislative compliance assessment, incident reporting and investigation, training and
communications.
- Provide technical advice and direction across the business to drive environmental compliance.
- Proactively develop a culture of environmental care across the whole of CHW and grow organisational

capacity to deliver best practice environmental performance.
- Provide technical advice and support across the business to prevent and respond to environmental incidents

and emergencies.
- Support the development and implementation of CHW’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Develop and implement environment improvement programs to reduce environmental risks and explore

improvement opportunities in areas such as waste and resource recovery, water efficiency, sustainable
procurement and protection of surface water and groundwater,
- Undertake other duties as directed.

**. Authority and Accountability**
- Provision of efficient and effective performance of all duties and responsibilities associated with the role.
- Build and maintain effective internal stakeholder relationships.
- At all times, create, maintain and foster a safe work environment and ensure compliance with the

provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and CHW policies and procedures.

**. Judgement and Decision Making**
- Required to exercise sound judgement on determine day-to-day priorities with competing tasks.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise independent judgement in interpreting

options, analysing and developing solutions.
- Required to proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement and improved performance.

**. Specialist Knowledge and Skills**
- Knowledge of a range of matters relating to environmental sustainability and legislation, and an

appreciation and understanding of environmental issues relating to the water industry.
- Working knowledge and understanding operating in a regulatory environment.
- Excellent computer skills including the use of Word and Excel, and the ability to navigate and use a
